Well Done Senator
Mon C. Wallgren of Washington praised labor in general and the Kaiser
workers in particular in the main address at the launching of the U.S.S.
Alikula Bay Monday, April 17. Mrs. Wallgren was sponsor of the ship, and
the Senator marked his visit by a birthday celebration. He is shown (

Columbia House, 7000-unit dormitory just north of
the yard, will be vacated by May 1, according to word from the Vancouver
Housing authority. Recreation facilities, including diamonds for softballers,
will remain open, however. Residents, numbering 858 men and women, will
be moved to Hudson House and VHA projects. The airview above was taken
before the "lake" was drained and filled.

Circles Strike Again The photographer this week caught a group
of early bird swing shifters coming to work at the West Gate. The lucky
man and woman circled in this picture are entitled to two passes each
to a carrier launching by reporting to the Bosn's Whistle office on the
first floor of the Personnel building.
