Closed Columbia House, 7000-unit dormitory just north of the yard, will be vacated by May 1, according to word from the Vancouver Housing authority. Recreation facilities, including diamonds for softballers, will remain open, however. Residents, numbering 858 men and women, will be moved to Hudson House and VHA projects. The airview above was taken before the "lake" was drained and filled.
